The Flood Warning continues for
the Ogeechee river near Eden.
* At 9 PM Friday the stage was 10.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring.
* Forecast... the river will rise to near 11.3 feet by Sunday early
afternoon then begin a slow fall.
* At 12.0 feet... the bottom floor of several homes at Morgans bridge
begin to flood. The boat ramp and campground along dashers Landing
Road near Eden are impacted.

... National safe boating week begins today...

National safe boating week occurs each year during the first full
week before the start of the Memorial Day weekend. This year it runs
from may 18 through may 24... and we start with the topic of life
jackets.

Before you and your family get out on the water this season or any
season... grab a life jacket and wear it! Nearly 90 percent of those
who drown while boating were not wearing a life jacket.

Wearing a life jacket is one of the most effective and simple life
saving strategies for safe recreational boating. Boaters are
required to have a United States Coast Guard approved life jacket
on board for every passenger on their vessel.

Life jackets are available in a wide variety of shapes... colors
and sizes. They are comfortable... lightweight and perfect for any
boating activity or sport.

No matter what the activity or life jacket style you choose... the
most important thing is to remember to grab a life jacket and
wear it!
