Hi, folks!
Wicca 101 at 10am. Brea’s counseling at 1pm. Waldport Progressives at 2pm.
Did you remember to set your clocks forward? It’s, “Spring Forward, Fall Back!” I always hate this day in spring. I’m so very sleepy! . I know I’m going to have issues all day, because I’ve been falling asleep sitting here for about 40 minutes. I just haven’t been able to keep my eyes open.
We’re under a high wind watch for late tonight through Monday.
It’s the 3rd day of the morning minus tides. Anyone been clamming?
It’s still pretty Dark, even though it’s the time of actual sunrise.
Before we left for the shop I spent a little time out in the rain. I harvested some pine tips, a bit of blue spruce, the last of the jonquils and trimmed a bit off of the weeping cherry, branches that would be dragging on the ground.
When Tempus and I got to the shop I replied to some e-mails, while he picked up and put away some of the tools he was using on Friday, then I started in on the herbs. I made a needle tea to try from the fresh needles, which was interesting. They’re high in vitamin C and used to be used to fend off scurvy and other deficiency diseases. Next I got the jonquils drying and rearranged the trays. I have some pictures again. I started getting the heather that I harvested earlier in the week off of the hard stems when some customers came in.
There is a group of women having a beach retreat this weekend at a beach house up in Seal Rock. Several of them were very interested in the pendulums and incense and I worked with them for a while. A second group of them came in during the mid-afternoon.
I went back to the heather, got that finished, then got the rosemary out and worked on that, in between working with other customers and trying to get my inbox sorted out. I also got to talk with the lady who does the Frivolous Fuzzies, the light-weight necklaces with a magnetic clasp that work so well for folks whose hands don’t work as well anymore. We’ve got an ½ dozen new ones in some nice bright colors and a couple pastels for Ostara!
Tempus was sorting and putting away things, mostly hardware, but also some paperwork. We finally got around to working together and unstacked, sorted and re-stacked a lot of boxes of fabrics and projects, finding a bunch of things that I want to work with Willow on and, as usual, finding things that had been put away in the wrong places. I spent a long while sorting bias tape packages into the organizer that I have for those. I’m going to have plenty to make up some of the projects that have been waiting, but I didn’t get as far as getting the sewing area properly sorted out.
I *still* need to get the library DVD’s in order! …and I never got around to cutting out my jumper, but I did find the tools that had gone missing.
The wet weather kept most of the people who come to the workshops home, I guess.
Some of the misplaced stock that showed up were things like an acorn pendulum, a really nice chunk of amethyst geode set as a pendant, a pair of clip earrings with turquoise, a pendant of jasper and goldstone, some more rocks and another bit of kyanite.
Did you know we have a whole box of blue kyanite wands in the display case? They’re very delicate, but there’s nothing better for aura clearing, since kyanite doesn’t need cleansing and will drag negativity out and disperse it. I hadn’t been talking about it much, since I don’t have anything really good to put the wands in for transport. I finally figured out that we can make sleeves out of scrap cardboard that should work perfectly well, so we’ll start selling those.
Today’s weather is supposed to be more interesting with thunderstorms expected out here and possible snow in the Valley.
The shop opens at 11am, but I’m going to be there a bit after 9am. Winter hours – Thursday through Monday, 11am-5pm. If we’re supposed to be closed, but it looks like we’re there, try the door. If it’s open, the shop’s open!
Love & Light,
Anja

A man was walking down a beach one day at low tide, and happened to spy a young boy who was picking up things and throwing them into the water. As he got closer he could see that what the boy was doing was picking up starfish that had been stranded on the beach when the tide went out, and tossing them back in. They were all over. The man watched for a while and finally walked up to the boy and said "You know, you're wasting your time. There are tens of thousands of starfish all up and down this beach. There is no way that you can make a difference!" The boy looked up at him, and then he bent over and picked up another starfish and threw it into the sea. .He turned back to the man and said "I made a difference to that one! – source unknown

Nuin/Nion Ash Feb 18 - Mar 17 - (NEE-uhn), ash - the common ash (Fraxinus excelsior L.) is a major tree of lowland forests in much of Europe, along with oaks and beeches. It grows to 40 m (130 feet) in open sites, with a broad crown reminiscent of American elm trees. Ash was and still is an important timber tree, and is a traditional material for the handle of a besom. The common ash is occasionally cultivated in North America, and similar native ash species are widely grown as street trees. Ashes are members of the Olive family (Oleaceae).

God could have created the universe in a second
Just by issuing the simple order "Be!"
Why, then, did He prolong Creation over six days,
Each one of which equaled a thousand years?
Why does the formation of a child need nine months?
Gradual action is characteristic of the King.
Why did the creation of Adam take forty days?
God perfected his clay by slow, perfect degrees.

Magick – Ostara
Dye Eggs the Natural Way - http://www.everythingeaster.com/story/naturaldye.h tml
Use vegetables, fruits and natural products to make colorful eggs this Ostara.
The stores are stacked with Ostara egg dyes and every year as a parent you have to pick the one your child will like and hope it works.
You get home set up all the messy dyes and begin working and many times the result is a bit disappointing. The eggs may not colour properly or the dye does not stick or the child is not happy with the results.
Forget the drugstore dyes and grab some stuff out of your refrigerator. There is a way to make colourful Ostara eggs from nature. It is a great way to teach your children to use ingredients from nature, and it should also be a fun and educational experience.
First you need ingredients which depend on the colour you are looking to achieve. The following is a list of colours and what ingredients you will need.
Pale Red - fresh beets or cranberries, frozen raspberries.
Orange - Yellow onion skins.
Light Yellow - Ground turmeric.
Pale green - Spinach leaves.
Green-gold - Yellow Delicious apple peels.
Blue - Canned blueberries or red cabbage leaves.
Beige to brown - strong brewed coffee
Now that you have the ingredients you need you follow this process and you will have colorful Ostara eggs dyed the natural way.
1. Put eggs in a single layer in a pan. Pour water in pan until eggs are covered.
2. Add about a teaspoon of vinegar.
3. Add the natural dye appropriate to the colour you want your eggs to be ( the more eggs you are dying at a time, the more dye you will need ).
4. Bring water to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
5. Remove the substance you used to colour the eggs. Put eggs in a bowl. If you want your eggs to be a darker shade, cover them with dye and let them stand overnight in the refrigerator.

Energy list
3/7/12 - 9-year-old boy with an inoperable brain tumor. Starting radiation. Family and friends asking help for him and for the children that know him.
3/7/12 – “I would also like to ask for healing...I just want to be whole again...able to walk so I can take care of the things I need to take care of. I know with the whole almost dying thing that it would take me a while to recover but a month and a half of being practically bed ridden..its a lot slower than I anticipated...I am just feeling trapped by my own body and these circumstances. To be honest it may seem bigger than it really is because I'm so inward focused and emotional right now. On the plus side I am very happy to say that I have more energy and am walking further every day ;-)”
2/19/12 – A young couple starting their first baby, asking about fertility rituals and energy to make things go well.
2/17/12 – For a woman who has the “chance of a lifetime” to get a fellowship to study abroad. Update… made it through the first round! Update 3/08/12 – Didn’t get it. Going to try again!
2/16/12 – For someone who has found a dream job and wants some extra oomph to help him get it.

Silliness – GCF: Bass Fishing
Doug was describing a 30 pound bass he'd caught recently after fighting it for three hours.
Bill interrupted the story saying, "I saw the picture you took of that fish. You're lucky if it even weighed 10 pounds."
Doug replied, "Well ... a fish can lose an awful lot of weight during three hours of fighting."
