Hi, folks!

Psychic Fair today!

I’ll be there this morning for a while, but I’m not going to be doing readings and Herb Workshop depends on whether I have any voice at all. I might just go about the tasks and not talk, I guess… that would be really, really strange….

The sun is shining brightly. Small sparkles are making prisms of water droplets on the alder leaves and everything is very gold and green. It’s chilly out there because the cloud cover broke up during the night, low 40’s yet.

I spent most of the day behind the computer. The early part of the day I was doing research, first into how to get better as fast as I can (and I’m going to follow it as best I can!) and 2nd into some of the embroidery pieces that the V&A museum has. I’m trying to get some copies.

After that I did some more writing since I’m starting to get my brain back, then worked on getting more stuff into the newsletter files, trying to get ahead.

After that I did some more on the Spoonflower fabrics, then some updates to the website and then sorted mail.

In the process of going through the mail I ran across a request for badger totem items. That’s been in the back of my mind for quite a while at this point, so I settled down to make a design and by late yesterday evening had not only gotten it up, but the Café Press items are most of the way edited!

From the reports the Beltane Sabbat Open Circle went well. Everyone got their wish baskets made and we’ll get the Web that was created up on the ceiling at the shop in the next few days.

5/5 – Saturday, 11am - Herb Workshop
Noon – Carl Neal’s Magickal Incense 101
2pm – Book Signing and Meet & Greet
3pm - Sewing Workshop
6pm - Metta Meditation
7pm – Movie Night, showing Oh, God! (discussion follows)

Here’s some more information about this Psychic Fair’s special guest…..

Bio:
Carl Neal is a self-professed incense fanatic who has been lucky enough to learn from a variety of incense makers from North and South America, Asia, and Europe. This Llewellyn author has traveled across America leading incense making workshops and discussions. He has been a frequent guest at Pagan festivals and gatherings where he spreads his enthusiasm for incense with vigor.

Incense Magick is Carl’s latest book which explores not only the history of incense but modern adaptations of ancient incense techniques, modern approaches to materials and methods, rituals, meditations, and magickal enhancements are all explored. Learn amazing burning techniques like hidden incense trails and incense chaining. Six years in the making, this book was worth the wait!

The Magick Toolbox explores the wide variety of tools that are used in rituals, spells, and other magickal practices in an encyclopedic fashion. From athames to wands, this book will help you purchase, modify, customize, purify, or even create from scratch, tools for your magick.

Incense: Crafting & Use of Magickal Scents is the book that teaches the world how to make high-quality, natural incense for any purpose. Avoid the harsh and sometimes dangerous ingredients in low-quality commercial incense and instead craft this amazing substance using your own ingredients and your energy. It is very simple and you could finish your first batch of incense in as little as 15 minutes!

The shop opens at 11am, but we’ll be there earlier. Spring hours, 11am-7pm, Thursday through Monday. If we’re supposed to be closed, but it looks like we’re there, try the door. If it’s open, the shop’s open!

Love & Light,
Anja

Today
The Moon is Waxing Gibbous. Waxing Gibbous Moon - From seven to fourteen days after the new moon. For spells that need concentrated work over a ¼ moon cycle this is the best time for constructive workings. Aim to do the last working on the day of the Full moon, before the turn. Full Moon Phase begins at 8:35am on Friday Full Moon Magick: From fourteen to seventeen-and-a-half days after the new moon. “And better it be when the moon is full!”! Prime time for rituals for prophecy, for spells to come to fruition, infusing health and wholeness, etc. A good time for invoking deity. The Tide Change is at 8:35pm on Saturday. Waning Moon Magick - From the Full Moon to the New is a time for study, meditation, and magic designed to banish harmful energies and habits, for ridding oneself of addictions, illness or negativity.

Full Moon (exact at 11:35 p.m. EDT), in Libra. This is the closest and largest full Moon of 2012, though not remarkably so. The Moon is 8% closer and larger than average, and only 0.16 magnitude brighter than average, so you'd need measuring tools to really tell. Take a look. What do you think?
Venus (magnitude –4.7, in Taurus) is the blazing "Evening Star" high in the west in twilight, and lower later in the evening. It's still as bright as it ever gets, but it's beginning its rapid May descent toward the sunset. See article, Venus Takes the Plunge.

Saille Willow Apr 15 - May 12 - The Willow in the Tree alphabet stands for the female and lunar rhythms of life. She is water-seeking, thriving from preference on the damp margins of lakes and streams or across the low-lying water meadows. Water and the tidal movements of the sea are governed by the pull of the moon. The moon in its monthly rhythms is female, contrasting with the male sun's daily and yearly turnings. In several ways, the Celts held women in higher regard than we do today. On the material level, women were property owners, and whoever controlled the property controlled the marriage. Women of all types and ages appeared in the Celtic pantheon, the spiritual strength and life-giving qualities given by both female and male recognized equally. There were colleges of Druidesses - learned women and teachers - respected equally for their gifts of see-ship, often expressed through dreams, or night visions.
Magical Associations: Romantic love, healing, protection, fertility, magic for women.

Magick – Healing Herbal Balm - August 18th, 2007
Color of the day: Indigo - Incense of the day: Sandalwood
For a magical, fresh-scented balm that promotes healing in every illness from fibromyalgia to chronic fatigue syndrome, try this one. Grind together the following herbs (about 1 tsp. each): thyme, rosemary, lemon balm, mint, and cucumber zest. Hold your left arm palm up and your right palm down just over the powdered herbs. Pull healing energy from the Earth with your left hand, allowing it to completely fill your body. Visualize this energy turning a brilliant gold and sizzling with healthy energy. Push this energy out through your right hand and channel it into the herbal mixture. Add the herbs a little at a time to one stick of melted cocoa butter, stirring well after each addition. Let the balm rest until the cocoa butter base has hardened.

Recipe for Good Health
After a long winter, March is a good time to work a spell that will renew your health. As folk wisdom says:

Eat leeks in March and garlic in May;
And all the year after physicians may play.
Peel three potatoes and place them on a green cloth on your kitchen table. Consider three things you can do to improve your health. Carve on each potato symbols or words regarding your intention. Make a potato leek soup with your magical potatoes. Decorate the table in colors of green and white and a bouquet of daffodils.
Leek Soup
4 cups sliced leeks
3 cups sliced potatoes
6 cups chicken broth
1 cup heavy cream
3 T. sherry
Chives
Combine potatoes, leeks and broth and cook for 20 minutes. Liquefy in a blender. Add cream, sherry, and chives and cook an additional 5 minutes without boiling, stirring constantly.

For Your Health
Insomnia - Chamomile is a very soothing tea to put you to sleep if you're having trouble in that area. And a magickal remedy is to take garden violet, put it in a silver bag under your pillow, and then lay back and wait for the desired effect: sleep. Dill and dandelion also work on insomnia. Orange and passion flower are other plants that take away the sleeplessness you experience. Primrose and rosemary also may be used in a tea to take away your insomnia but I prefer that you put shavings from a white birch into a white muslin bag and wear it around your neck, or place it under your pilow. You should doze off almost immediately. Wild morjoram and sweet marjoram may be made into teas, too, and you may wish to make a poultice of lettuce and hops and mother of thyme to cover your eyes. Sleep should be induced soon after applying it.
.
Relieving Facial Tension - Every night before you go to sleep, sit in your bed and start making faces — just as small children enjoy doing, make all kinds of faces, good, bad, ugly, beautiful, so the whole face and the musculature start moving. Make sounds — nonsense sounds will do — and sway, just for ten to fifteen minutes and then go to sleep.

In the morning, before you take your bath, again stand before the mirror and for ten minutes make faces. Standing before the mirror will help: you will be able to see and you will be able to respond

Energy list
4/16/12 – For someone who has found a dream job and wants some extra oomph to help him get it.
4/13/12 – “I am still very sick and have been for a month now - really need help kicking this on the spiritual plane - depression makes you sick and I am having a hard time climbing out of this hole. I now have bronchitis as well as the ongoing infection - see Dr again on Monday - This is probably the only request for help/healing I have ever made - but I just can't seem to kick this on my own. Whatever you think will help - I feel like I am dying a very slow and painful death.”
4/8/12 – For an older father with various health issues that gave us all a scare a while back. He’s much better, but still needs help to get back to health.
4/7/12 - 9-year-old boy with an inoperable brain tumor. Starting radiation. Family and friends asking help for him and for the children that know him. Update 4/7 He’s doing pretty well and back in school despite the treatments.

Silliness – GCF: Helpful Mechanic

Taking my car to the mechanic, I was fearful that any needed repair might be too expensive. I was relieved when he told me all I needed was blinker fluid.
