The Heat Continues on the Prairie and Another Drug Bust
Today will be overcast with a high of 30C(86f). The winds from the SSE at 15 to 25 km/h.

The hot weather will remain for the rest of the week acording to the forecast. Yesterday I shortend Abbey's walk. It was cool when we left and I wore a jacket. By the time we got home I was sweating. I think today I'll stay indoors and enjoy the ac but get Abbey out as soon as the Queen leaves at 8am.
Yesteday I changed a light fixture. It trned out to be a big job. The fellow who installed the electrical box didn't allow for the drywall and I had a hard time finding bolts long enough to hold the fixture in place. What should have been a 10 minute task took me almost an hour.
Today I'll fill the girls pool and give them a place to cool down before the go to bed for the night and put some water on the front lawn as it's starting to turn brown and crispie. If the well water wasn't so cold they could run through the sprinkler to cool off.
Yesterday the RCMP made another drug bust and put 3 more dealers behind bars. They sure are doing a good job of cleaning up the drug trade here.:)

Yesterday was a big day for the youngest daughter's boyfriend. He graduated. She decided o wear a tux instead of a dress. She's always been a tomboy. The Queen blames me. When she was I used to tease her and call her a boy. It sure has stuck but she does look good in the tux. The 2 have been a couple for the last 3 years and they do look good together.

A Birthday Party and a New Recipe
Yesterday the Queen and me attended a birthday party for a grandon. the BBQed sauage was great as was the cake the daughter had baked. Those grandsons are sure getting big.
On my way home from my walk with Abbey I stopped at neighbor's home and had a chat whith the lady of the house. She used to run the ccafetiera at the building I worked in. She made the best yeasty cinnamon buns I've tasted. With a little coaxing she said she'd write me out the recipe.

Funerals Are Not Good Things

My sister and me attended my step uncles funeral yesterday. It's a sad thing that you only see some relatives at funerals.
My aunt is taking the death hard. My uncle has cared for her as she's been blind, for the last 7 or 8 years and now she's moved into a nursing home. At 86 it will be a big change in her life as well as losing a loved one.
I'll make a point of stopping by regularly to visit as he to children live quite a distance from her. of a family of 10 only an uncle of mine and her are left.

Yesterday after taking Abbey for her walk along the gopher trails I repaired a solar powered light which illuminates my house number. All it needed was to have the nicad batteries replaced. I replaced them with nickle hydride batteries which have a longer life span as they don't have as much memory as the nicads.
I also made some cjocolate rice cripie squares but when using a 1/2 to measure the amount of crispies to add to the marshmellow/chocolate mixture I forgot that I was using a 1/2 cup and ended up with a chewy rice crispie toffee. I was going to remelt it and add the other half of the crispies but my sister saud "Why It's good like this". It will now become a new menu item at the candy store.:) I wonder how many new recipies are made from mistakes in the kitchen.
today my sister and me will be attending the funeral of my step uncle as the Queen has to work. It must be hard for my step uncle's first family. Their mother, his previous wife passed away only a week ago.

My sister arrived safely yesterday after giving me a scare. I knew she had left the Hat at 11pm on Tuesday and its a 12 hour drive. By 3 I was starting to get worried but then though she probably stopped for a sleep. I was right. That woman sure is a brave lady starting a 700 mile trek across the prairies near midnight by herself.
I wonder what's happened to the WU connection with Canada . The radar has been offline for a while and the weather from Environment Canada has quit. This morning I noticed that the web cam from my basement window doesn't appear though it's working fine on my end. When I try to upload the view I get an error that a connection could not be made. I shows that I'm 1 of 0 uploading on the picture.

Today my suster from Medicine Hat will arrive. She's coming for the funeral of a step uncle. He went the way I hope I can go. He went to sleep at night and never woke.
I had news lately that my daughter from Newfoundland will be coming in August. That sure will be nice.
Well time to go, the Queen has just got up.

I spent a quiet day with the Queen yesterday. She took me shopping and while I was looking at something she wandered away. I've learned that when I loose her I make my way to the liar's bench which she has to pass after checkout and wait for her there. When I had full vision I could never find her anyway. I should have done that from the begging instead of wandering around the store looking down aisles. I think women have the ability to go invisible while shopping. :)

Yesterday the I filled the pool for the little girls. It's just a small 5 foot diameter kid's pool but the had more fun playing in the bucket used to carry hot water to warm the cold well water. It was like when you buy a kid a Toy and they have more fun with the box it came in than the toy.

The Queen and I had a good trip to the Morden/Winkler area for the MRI. The MRI for the heart sure is alot different from the head scans I've had. The head MRI you just lie there and the machine does all the work. If it wasn't for the noise a person could have a nap. The heart MRI involves 15 minutes of taking deep breaths then exhaling all the air to empty the lungs then holding your breath for 15 to 20 seconds. If a person did that on a daily basis you could become an opera singer. :)
The stomach muscles get a good workout too while holding your breath.

This morning I'm goung for an MRI to determine if the clot that's been causing my problems is still present.
Mass and Alley do we ever grow potatoes here in Manitoba. There are 2 fry plants in Portage la Prairie, one owned by McCain's and the other by Simplot. Both plants when in full production can process 1 millon lbs. of potatoes a day each. The plants run on a 24/7 basis. The McCain plant ,where the Queen works, is currently on a 2 week shutdown for maintenance. We also have large vegeteble farms here. The rich soil is from repeated flooding of the Assinaboine river, which also provided irrigation when needed, flooding and depositing the soil on the Portage plains. The producers of veggies and potatoes have formed a company to market the production. Here's a link to their site for those who are interested. Peak of the Market. The vegetabe industry was started when Campbell's open a soup plant here. The plant is gone now but the veggies are still being grown.

Once again the weatherman was wrong. We never got close to the 30 fore casted. I think we were luck if the high was 20. I did manage to get Abbey out between showers.
Today i have a couple of wood working project to try. One is an idea for a frame for one of my daughters paintings. I'm going to try with scape material before I but some good wood. I also have a folding table to repair. I should be able to keep myself busy while he Queen works.
I sure have been having problems with my hot-mail account. The appears to be 2 users with the same name. I've discontinued using the plapman account as it full of spam. According to my Zone alarm Extreme security, Microsoft's security Essentials and Super Antispyware my computer is virus free.

We never got close to our fore casted high of 27c(80.6f) yesterday. It was cool and cloudy all day. The high for today will change that if it gets there. We sure are in a strange weather pattern. 30 today and 18 on Wednesday. I don't know what to wear shorts or long johns:).
Yesterday on my walk with Abbey we passed by the daycare close by. As usual the kids get all excited seeing Abbey. After asking the lady caregiver if the kids could pet Abbey through the fence I let the kids give Abbey a pet. The lady said remarked how happy Abbey always looked when we passed by. She even thanked me for stopping and let the kids enjoy Abbey. I think every kid should have a dog in their life.
When we approached home one of the G Granddaughters was going on a weekend visit with her father. He playfully gave her a light playful kick in the bum. I warned him that Abbey is very protective of her girls, she's even barked at me one time when I was chasing the girls. Abbey has claimed those girls as hers and no one had better hurt them.

Another hot day today and with the showers the temp will feel even higher. I spent sometime in the garage yesterday looking for something in the hoard but never did find it. Once I started to get too warm I came in and cooled off. I sure do dislike being housebound. I did get Abbey out for a short walk later in the evening but didn't let her run the gopher trails.
Today I'm going to try to convert some old cassettes I have into cds and attach my lengthened hands to the clock I've made from pieces in the hoard once the Queen has headed off to work.

i had to leave quickly yesterday as a TIA was setting in. It seems that the heat we've been having triggers them. It must be the low blood flow in my system and the heat causing the arteries to dilate lowering the blood preasure is the reason the heat affects me.
I stayed indoors all day yesterday and almost completed the old clock case project. Today I have to legthen the hands as the ones I have are about an inch too short.

I had a productuve day yesterday. After taking Abbey for an early walk and sending the Queen off to work I decided it was time to repair a window that had been broken during the bathroom reno. I was going to just replace the broken glass with Plexiglas but decided to replace the frame and all with 1/4 inch lexan that I had in the hoard. The window is now almost bullet proof. :)
I have to think of a project for today that will keep be indoors. I may get back to the antique clock case and design a case for the quartz movement that still sits in the hoard. It's time to get back to garage sales and start replenishing the hoard.
The Newfoundland daughter is in California on a course and is looking for warm weather. She should have come to sunny Manitoba. Yesterday the high for LA was 24 while we were basking at 30C(86F). Today's high of 31C(87.8f) will call for shorts and a tee for me.

I earned some brownie points with the Queen yesterday. On our way home from a short walk with Abbey I caught the scent of lilacs. I looked down the street I was crossing and about a half block were 2 large lilac bushes in full bloom. The owner of the home, where the lilacs were growing, was outside watering his flower garden so I walked over and asked if I could get a couple of bunches for the Queen. Abbey and me must have looked strange with me walking down the street with me carrying a bouquet of flowers.

The Queen got up early and I was up having coffee with her. Then it was on to the Honey do list. I also did some baking and made rice Krispie squares. I bet they don't last long.:)

I was lazy yesterday and with the warm weather decided not to take Abbey out. I'm goung to have to get her used to to the higher temps. I did get my back lawn cut though.
I found anothe clock to add to my collection. Though not old it does look good hanging beside the pre 1916 canadian Time Wall clock. Some day it will be a collector. lol it's getting hard to find mechanical clocks now. I thinks it's time to let a few of them rest. I have 3 running now. :)
I tyhink today I'll do the front lawn this morning before it rains again and locate the rainwear to take Abbey out for a run after the Queen goes to work. It's a good thing that I didn't find a buyer for my webbed feet. :)
