I have been a "weather geek" all of my life and living in the tropics since '79 has just made it more interesting. Great site for info and friends.

Have a grand week-end with the Grands!
Why is it?
Mens humor button is always triggered by bodily functions.
Every time I read that I giggle snort...
Well, you know.
There has got to be some sort of Genetics involved!
Not to mention, all this cooler dry weather has prompted me to make Bean Soup today.
No joke.
Its on the pot as we speak.
Appropriate Prepositions elude me.
Spathy, LOL yes, it is in the genes honey.. !LOL
Cat5, thanks for stopping in.. yes, this storm sort of picked and choose where it wanted to dump rain.
Janet, good to see you again. WOW that is a lot of rain, we did not get nearly that much down here... and I understand you needed it.. just not all at once! Hope no serious side affects happen with all this weather. Thanks!
NEw, I hear ya, we have been instructed NOT to let our guard down just yet... still a lot of heat in the tropics that must escape out. LOL
Less than 30 more mins at work, been sort of busy today... probably tomorrow also.
Thanks to all who stop by.
White Rabbits, White Rabbits, White Rabbits..
I want to get it here first!!!
happy First Day of October!!!
YIKES I cannot believe tomorrow will be October.. where has this year gone.
Your radar looks clear to me now (9PM your time) and look what I found in my garden today!
I swear I don't think we're suppose to have tomatoes this time of year, but I don't think this plant got the memo!
Not much on the weather front right now..thankfully.
I was able to get out and run another mile after work today. The feet don't feel any worse right now. The big question will be how they feel in the morning, I guess.
Hope everyone is ready for a happy Friday..even Gamma, since you have a 'short' week this time!
I cannot wait for home grown tomatoes again!
Jeff, Hope your foot is doing well this morning after your run last night.. just take it one mile at a time and take it easy and before you know it you will be running the 5K marathons once again. I am looking forward to doing more running again soon...
And this morning temps in 70's!!!! and our highs only in mid 80's... that is "fall" for us... we will take it.
AT work and waiting for a meeting with my team in a few minutes... I brought them in pasteries and coffee this morning since I will be out tomorrow.
So today is actually a "Friday" for me too!
Gamma is needed to watch Rylee and Nolan tomorrow, the other grandparents are out of town and Chris could only get off today and Ellen cannot get off at all so what is a Gamma to do?
I will check back in later.. Happy Friday to you!
Wishing you a very happy month of October.
"The gilding of the Indian summer mellowed the pastures far and wide.
The russet woods stood ripe to be stripped, but were yet full of leaf.
The purple of heath-bloom, faded but not withered, tinged the hills...
Fieldhead gardens bore the seal of gentle decay; ... its time of
flowers and even of fruit was over."
- Charlotte Brontë
"Even if something is left undone, everyone must take time to sit still and watch the leaves turn."
- Elizabeth Lawrence
It is just lovely outside today. So refreshing after five months of heat.
October already???
What happened to summer - oh, I know....
We got BP'd out of our summer! : )
Seems like this was a summer that never was.
I spent very little time on the beach and almost no time on the boat!
But the water seems to be fine now, at least on the surface - so hopefully we can take the boat out and drop anchor & have a relaxing afternoon.
Geez, October already???
Happy October 1st to you! We will feel like October tomorrow, got one last nice warm day today then cold for the weekend.
Have a great weekend!
Bay
can you belive our "high" for today barely reached 85 and the humidity is so low.
Bills, yes this is a beautiful day, should have been home doing yard work instead of cooped up in my cold work building.! YES today is really my Friday!!!
Pros, thank you so much; well our leaves do not "turn" in the fall... actually my winter garden is more beautiful than the summer garden.. that is what I want to be still and watch.
Foxx, I hear you.. where did summer go.. we had such a cold winter, seems like summer got here and then left just as quickly... oh yes, bummer for all you in the GOM, that was not a good summer to remember at all... I pray that oil is going away for good and not causing too much after affect.
Bays, good for you!!! it is almost "fall" here today. Glad you are enjoying your beautiful Fall Day!!!
I see the drought map did not change too much from yesterday. Guess not much rain in Florida so not much more green today than day before.
Go to wrap up my day... 3 1/2 more hours to go!
good to see you stop by.
Yes this morning and all day today has been
PERFECT!
of course, we could not survive if we had "PERFECT" days like this all the time..
we would never get any rainfall.
but so beautiful outside all day not a cloud in the sky...
temps are just right
I want to go home and plant tomatoes!
Oh, I just found out I have some kind of wasp that digs for cicadas. They make huge piles of sand in the yard. I just happened to see one digging yesterday. He was a big boy. He flew off and I sprayed his new nestie thing with wasp spray. I hope he is gone for good.
Yards....I am loving the thought more and more of a townhouse with cement :)
Slow on the up take today - other things happening...
But wishing you White Rabbits, Happy Month...
And I see today is the last day of your week:)
My sister has the two little ones this weekend too, whilst their mummy and daddy go to a wedding, and stay away overnight!! LOL
Spent last week in Pensacola. The beach seems fine, at least what can be seen.
In Germany since Monday. Yesterday was cold and raining (50's). Not unusual this time of year. May get up to 70 Sunday.
I start my new job Monday. We'll see how it goes!
Scott, I saw you over on Brooke's blog.
Glad you arrived safely in Germany. Good luck on the new job.. enjoy your weekend getting settled.
Has the family moved over yet?
Cropper, I hear you, the best time of the year!
EWM, So happy to hear from you again.. I understand busy!!! Glad you stopped by and hope things settle down a little soon.
We have been so lucky this year and last year with the storms, hope our luck holds!
Sandi, glad you made it.. Oh my your sister is going to know what "tired" is by the end of the weekend! I know last week I had the kids more than normal and I was ready to get back to work yesterday to rest! LOL
Ogal, I have never heard of those wasps.. will keep an eye open for them. This weather is great... so you are going to "lighten up" your back garden some? I know, yard work keeps getting harder and harder every year, but I keep wanting more and more land! LOL
Hope all are enjoying their Friday!!!
OGal, be careful what you wish for...condo dwelling does have its up side, but...I so miss a yard, thats mine-all-mine.
BF and I both got layed off yesterday. Lucky for us, he had a job in the making and started a new job today.
Me, after working 2 jobs for 17 months, I only have one...applied for UC today.
I just don't know what I want to be when I grow up! LOL
keep me updated.
Scott, so good to hear from you, glad the kids and wife traveled with you. Keep us informated and post when you get a chance.
Brett, I agree, you and I have met Blu before and Blu, you are such a wonderful person hope something good comes soon.....
OK I am really going to bed now... I know I got involved in a few "political" blogs which I should not have done but I did..
so I must now get my "beauty rest" because I have a 5 year old and a 9 mos old that is almost walking, who will run me ragged tommorrow!!!
Thanks for stopping by.
It is Saturday and I am not at work!
Have Rylee and Nolan here to keep me busy.
It is going to be another beautiful day; hope to get a little yard work done if the kids cooperate!
Enjoy your Saturday!
Just breezing thru to wish you a wonderful weekend! looks like the weather will be awesome with cooler temps and abundant sunshine!! Fall is definitely in the air here in Mobile. We may see temps in the upper 4o's next week - YIKES!. But that is O.K., Masshysteria sent me some thermals to keep me warm - lol.
I see that you have Rylee and Nolan today. Hubby and I are grandchild childless this weekend. We had Courtney, Sarah and Madelyn last weekend. It was fun, wild and exhausting! Madelyn (20 mos) should come with a warning label!..lol
I know we'll have some 'hot' days yet but these cool temps are marvelous after all that summer heat.
We've got lows in the mid-upper 50's and highs in the mid 70's. Low humidity and NO MOSQUITOS!!!! Haven't seen a one since last weekend. Good riddance to the little buggers.
With the cooler temps, I'm pondering a Roast Beast for our Sunday dinner, like you had last weekend. Or was it the weekend before? Whenever. I won't mind turning on the oven now.
Hope your "Friday" goes by fast!
Mary Ann Stiles will not be going to jail for violating city code by holding parties at her Auburn home known as “Creekwood Castle.”
Lee County Circuit Judge Jacob A. Walker III found Stiles guilty in July for the zoning ordinance violation and decided Wednesday to sentence her to 90 days in jail, suspended, and the maximum fine of $500. He also ordered Stiles to serve probation for two years and complete 50 hours of community service, as deemed by the city.
Morning!
Perfect weather here! It was 59° when I headed out the door to walk Naddi & Shadow - its warming up quickly but promises to be a perfect day!
We are planning on taking the boat out! Yippee!
Haven't done much of that this summer - BP kinda messed that up.... so now we can enjoy some time on the water!
While husband is mowing I need to pick a cabinet to clean out! LOL shhhh! don't tell him I blogging! hehehehehe
Seriously, I'm going to get busy now! But wanted to stop by and say hello! and to have a wonderful day!
Peace,
Love
and Y☮L☮
While we are having nice cool evenings, lows around 72 which is good for us.. but we are getting back up near 90 in the afternoon. but it "feels" so much nicer.. I think today is going to be much hotter than yesterday.
Foxx, I hear you, I should be doing things around the house this morning instead of here typing! LOL have fun..
I really want to get some of my "home made compost" into my garden bed to get it ready for planting.
Aubie, Oh My Goodness, I cannot believe there are towns that do not allow you to entertain in your own home. I have had over 100 people in my home/yard for parties many times over the past 24 years... with DJ's and a lot of noise...the DJ must be turned off by 11:30pm because the police always show up around 11pm to "warn us" LOL
But our houses are very crowded and close together... and cars are parked all around the block! I think that is terrible that there are actually laws that do not allow more than 20 in your home at a time.... I could never do the family holiday meals! I had 45 for Thanksgiving one year...
thanks for the articile very interesting.
Bug, yesterday was my "Friday" I am off work today watching the kids. I made the Pot Roast last Sunday, it was great and we had left overs the next day... Good luck on cooking yours this weekend, nothing better!
AllyB, good to see you out on the blogs this morning! Yes, we love our Grands but watching them all day is exhausting... and two are a lot more work than just one! LOL It will be fun...right now Rylee is across the street playing with her best friends, Kyle and Katie so that helps while trying to get Nolan down.
Thanks to all of you for stopping by!
Just taking a day?
Off to grocery store and other errands, and I think I'm going to make some white chicken chili and sweet cornbread for football tomorrow. Yum!
Have fun with your grandbabies. Does it feel weird to be off on Saturday? lol!
Bay:)
Bug, you are right, I do work Thur, Fri and SAt but I had to take today off to help out with the kids, the other grandparents usually have them Fri and Sat and they had to go out of town...
Ogal, got Nolan down for about an hour in he morning and about 1 hour in the afternoon.
And boy am I tired... dog tired.. pooped tired..
Ellen left while ago with the kids...I did get some heavy lifting yard work done.. my "raised bed" I got filled back up with the compost from my compost bin..but the "ripe" compost is at the bottom so Had to take off the last few months of compost (and some of it is iky like the rotten veggies).. to get to the bottom..
but I got it done.. one shovel full at a time transfer from compost bin to raised bed... nice rich dark garden compost...
it still had some un decomposed pieces of wood and leaves, but over all was in good shape.. they can finish off in the ground...
and talk about earth worms...
for some reason my compost bin does not get hot so I had so many really big earth worms on the bottom..and I collected them all and put them in my garden bed..
and of course, Rylee loves to play with them. she was picking them up and letting them crawl on her arm and hand!
We had Nolan safely in his walker out side with us and of course he could not really get around in the walker in the soggy grass..
We cannot let him on the ground right now he is at that age everything goes into his mouth...
next year he will probably be playing with the earth worms also.
but after all that bending and shoveling and pulling and chopping...I just got out of the shower and I am going to bed to rest! LOL
Thanks for the kind words on my last post to your blog. I am trying to take it all in stride. The only times I have been out of work since I was 15, was when I was on maternity leave, I really dont think that counts. LOL
Loving this cooler in the morning weather. Plan to start walking more. Just been to darn hot.
Over 1000 Space Industry workers were layed off last week as well. Does not bode well for employment in Brevard Co in the near future. Gonna have to get creative!
I'm glad you posted something about your compost bin because I have been meaning to ask. I think we stole your weather! It was super hot and humid earlier in the week (it's cooled down some - thank goodness), but last couple of days we've had thunder, lightning and rain! Wooohooo - it is such a novelty here! I even took a short video to capture some thunder. It's in my blog.
And if you haven't checked, I have green tomatoes! Can't wait to come back and see some pictures of your garden.
What are you planting this year?
