An unusually early and violent tornado season
An EF-4 tornado with winds of 166-175 mph swept through Oklahoma and Missouri Saturday, killing 21 people. Hardest hit were the towns of Picher, OK, where six died, and Seneca, MO, where ten died. The violent tornado was up to a mile wide. Did you know that...
A couple incredible hail facts occurred on this date. First, in 1975, hail the size of tennis balls amassed to a depth of 10 inches in Wernersville, Penn. Also, in 1930, a farmer was killed in a hailstorm near Lubbock, Texas accounting for the only official United States death due to hail.
