Horned Worm???

Laguna Niguel, CA (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: I found this in my driveway.....It looks kind of like a tomato worm....but I don't have any tomato plants...and he looks very healthy. Does anyone know what this is?

WOW!!! I think they are beautiful,,whether they like tomatoes,or not,,,,I just pick them off and move them somewhere else to do their thing!!!! They are really neat to hold,,I have a photo of a different variety up here from last August I think,,so you might go check mine out,,Great shot,I hope you did'nt squish it,like most people do!? lol!

Oh, they hover just like the hummingbirds. You could get a photo of one. My favorite moth. Nice find! -kevin :)

Thanks Tom! :-) And thanks Jaytell for the ID....looks like it is white lined sphinx caterpillar...and the moth is also called a "Hummingbird" moth...so he will be safe from ever having his photo taken in my yard! (I am still working on "moving" subject matter LOL.) ~Elizabeth

Well, Elizabeth, I have just been looking on Google and I reckon your little creature is a white lined sphinx caterpillar.It looks very much like that to me.
